Wood Solutions to Problems
A table full of food. Now held by a 'pantry' next to
the door.

A pile of book boxes in the Living Room, and the solution on
the right.

In my office, more boxes full of books and some office
supplies. A couple of book cases solved this problem. Notice that
the book cases use a skeleton design, necessary because the wood here is so
heavy. (Furniture grade hardwood, very nice, for a dollah-seventy-five a
foot! Planing is included in that price.) I use that scheme, 1x1, 2x1
& 4x1, for all my designs. Buy long pieces and cut them to size with
my little chop saw. Put everything together with white glue and drywall
screws, surely one of the great inventions of the last 20 years.

Because Rix Place is on "the sunny side of the
street", the living room gets hot in the afternoon. By this time, the
back yard is cool and breezy, so I pump cool air into the living room thru the
guest room in the back. I took a couple of fans whose stands were broken
beyond repair, and mounted them on a wood frame, shown left. They cool the
living room nicely, and cost a lot less than air conditioning.
So many musical instruments, we had them laying around
everywhere. Click here, to see how instrument
hangers transformed the room.
