April 2007)
Here in Belize, we're a little "news
challenged." I used to get $150 worth of magazines and journals in
the States, but that would cost me $600 down here. So, I count on the
Internet to keep me posted.
BeliefNet sends me a bible reading every morning. I read it -- I've read it before, but it's good to read it again. Then, I delete it. After all, it's in my Bible! Sign up at www.beliefnet.com.
New. Well, they used to
send me a reading. Now they just send me a teaser -- which would be OK if
I were on-line all the time.
The Economist has weekly newsletters on politics and
economics, which alert you to articles on their website. Subscribe at www.economist.com. NOTE: Most of the articles they mention are only available if you subscribe. Even so -- I find the little notes they send me interesting, and every now and then there's a free article that's worth getting!
LOVE-FM (95.1
Mhz 98.1Mhz & 88.9 FM) is the most powerful
radio station in Belize. They publish a daily news letter.
Most of the items come from the government feed, but if you're hungry for
Belizean news, this will give you a daily dose! Send a blank message to

PC Week was one of my favorites in the states, along
with PC Magazine. You can subscribe to a variety of postings from
Ziff-Davis at www.zdnet.com.
CNN Quiknews will give you the headlines in html or
text form. Subscribe by going to http://cnn.com/SPECIALS/mail.
This ultimately was just too much mail even for me and I turned it off.
Please bear in mind that I'm retired, and can tolerate
a lot more junk mail than most.
