Forums & Lists about Belize:   (March 2008)

Forums and lists are very dynamic sources of good (and sometimes bad) information about Belize.  Since I left Belize, this is my best way to keep in touch.

BelizeCentralAmerica.  In lieu of a forum on this Website, I will direct you to this Yahoo Group.  You can still ask me questions directly, of course.   To subscribe, you will need a yahoo name, which can be bogus.  <grin>,   My yahoo name is (of course) Senor Reek.

BZ-Culture:  A widely diverse group of Belizeans, residents, and Belize-lovers, living here and abroad, contribute items of interest and discuss them.  Unmoderated.  Some controversy.  To subscribe, send the message "subscribe" (without quotes) to bz-culture-request@psg.com

Belize Culture:  This alternative culture list is moderated by Peter Singfield (see here) who fills the list with world news which may be relevant to Belize (or maybe not.)   There are some interesting discussions, but there's also a lot of crap. To subscribe. click here.or email  belize-subscribe@lists.belizeculture.com ..

Belize ForumsOne of the most popular places to ask questions, and get answers.  Heavily moderated.  Don't say anything bad about Belize or it may be deleted.  (Much like AmbergrisCaye/forum, below.)

Belize-IT.  An alternative news and discussion list run by Wendy Auxillou of Caye Caulker.  To subscribe, send the message "subscribe" (without quotes) to belize-it@psg.com.  This list is currently inactive,.  (Wendy is active on the other lists.)

Bz-PoliSci.  A yahoo group which discusses political activities in Belize.  You will have to be approved by the moderator (my friend Trevor Vernon)  to join.  Tell' em Sr. Reek sent you!   (Click on the button to the right.)

New. AmbergrisCaye/Forum.  This forum, (billed as a 'message board') is really very local to Ambergris Caye.  It is heavily moderated by a team of Gringos who ensure that controversial comments and topics are deleted quickly.  Its agenda is to sell San Pedro and it does that very well.  Very chatty.  If you love San Pedro, you'll love it.

New. Buenos dias Belize FORUM.  This forum was established by John Payne after he was banned from AmbergrisCaye/Forum and Belize Forums!   (They suggested "If you don't like it here, go start your own" and he did.)  It is a very eclectic forum, mostly about Belizean topics, with lots of cartoons, pointers to youtube, snide  remarks about the moderators on the other forums.  John has two pseudonyms -- Catweasel and Bubblebreaker.   Some of the other participants are ex-pats (like me) who tried Belize and now live somewhere else.  (John lives in France.)  Some are absentee landowners, building in Belize, waiting for a time when they can move permanently.  I like this forum and spend a lot of time there.
