Economics 401 (Jan 2010)
Books and discussion of the current economic situation in the US and the
world.
This book is a pretty
good discussion of the banking side of the problem, but Woods seems ignorant of
the demographic reasons that the housing market tanked.
1)
The baby boomers want to sell, to get out of their big COLD house and move to
the tropix-- ie BELIZE
2)
Their kids -- GENX, they're called, aren't into big houses. They're into style,
condos, trips to <gasp> Belize!
An excellent
description of the Corporatocracy* and how they enrich themselves at our
expense.
* Corporatocracy: an
unholy amalgam of Big Business, Banks and Government. It runs the world
and answers to no one. See a couple of interesting YouTube cuts (both
featuring Net Beatty) which describe the situation. (And you thought he
was just entertaining you, eh?) I first ran into the word in John
Perkins's book.
Arthur Jensen (played
by Ned Beatty, Network
(1976)) explains the way it
REALLY is. (40 years ago... and today!!!)
Senator Charles F. Meachum (played by
Ned Beatty, Shooter (2007))
explains the way it REALLY
is!...(See, I told you so!)
We thought it was funny
the first time we saw it. Just like "What's good for General
Bullmoose, is good for the USA."
