Downtown Pictures

National Hardware is about the only landmark remaining. Altho it has a lot of competition from two other larger stores, the Rosados manage to compete very well by providing great service and stocking part that fix-it guys like me need.

Below.  This used to be Mirna's U-Save, and then it was Castillo's, and now it is empty.  You can read Mirna's Story here.

Below -- the entrance from Fourth Avenue to the old market.  This is all that's left -- there is a little breakfast place in the back where the guy is sitting, but that's it.

Go thru this entrance and (below) you have an unrestricted view of the fish wharf -- this empty space used to be the old market!   For another view, click here to see a picture of Rudolph, the fish man and his work table.  Like the market, Rudolph is gone -- he got TB  and died.  He was a good man and my good friend and we all miss him.
