Traditional Jazz

NEWEST!   A website about the Colorado Nighthawks, built by me and my friend Rick Jolley. Look here:

Called "Trad", this flavor of jazz attempts to create the jazz played in days gone by.  Some is called "dixieland", "Ragtime", "New Orleans Revival", etc. It is summarized by the term OKOM (Our Kind Of Music) as preferred by the readers on the Dixieland Jazz Mailing List (DJML).

http://www.islandnet.com/djml.  The website for the Dixieland Jazz Mailing List.  To subscribe to the list, a user must send a note to dixielandjazz-request@lists.islandnet.com with the word “subscribe” in the subject line.  This will send back a confirmation “cookie” that they must then reply to which will comple the process of adding them to the list (this is an anti “spoofing” measure).

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fourstringbanjo    The website for the Four String Banjo List, which focuses on Tenor and Plectrum banjo music and playing.

Band-in-a-Box.  I keep my chops up by playing banjo along with this program, using my own special style which has the kind of tuba licks I like.  I have a set of tunes which you can have if you'll drop me a line.  The zipped file you get will contain my dixieland style.  (The tune you'er hearing is "Muskrat Ramble", done with BIAB and that style.)  You can look at a list of those tunes hereNew.  I have a moved the file, renamed TradJazz.zip to the BIAB group files on Yahoo.!
